The Archive Treasures programme offers the (re)discovery of the latest works restored by important laboratories, archives and film libraries. Films whose importance to the history of cinema is already recognised, but also others, from multiple places, which for various reasons have not reached the general public. In all of them we find glances and pressing questions that justify revisiting them — whether they were made 20 or 80 years ago. Usually with two sessions a month, this programme adopts a more regular rhythm during the festive season.

Between December and January, we will explore the different approaches to crime and criminal stories in cinema, highlighting the moral complexity of the characters and the realities that shape them. From the raw realism of The Protagonists, which explores the voyeuristic nature of violence, to Samba Traoré, which examines the human consequences of a robbery in Burkina Faso, each film presents a unique perspective. The comedy Murdering the Devil subverts the concept of evil by presenting a surreal confrontation with the Devil, while Battle in Heaven defies narrative conventions by addressing guilt and redemption in a sombre and contemplative Mexico. Hong Sang-soo's first film takes a look at crime of passion, while Mikey and Nicky reflects on how the world of crime can challenge a long-standing friendship. The Big Heat delves into the dark world of police corruption under the classic atmosphere of film noir. These films trace a cinematic map of crimes that transcend time and space, revealing the deep layers of humanity and transgression.
