Batalha regularly presents a series of sessions designed for children and adults. In these sessions, which include a presentation and a talk at the end, we challenge families (both formal and emotional) to build a fun and personal relationship with the moving image that will accompany them through the different stages of their lives.
In February, the session The First Times invites you to revisit foundational moments in cinema, such as the earliest films, videos and experiments in colour, culminating in an emotional silent classic by Edwin S. Porter. In March, in dialogue with the programme dedicated to the Harlem Renaissance, we highlight Cabin in the Sky, by Vincente Minnelli, preceded by the musical animated short Date with Duke, in a celebration of African American trailblazers in Hollywood and the music of Duke Ellington. April brings a film-concert with Von Calhau!, where music meets cinema and the work of pioneer Alice Guy Blanché, and closes with Andrius, a recently restored jewel of Lithuanian cinema in which dreams and fantasies are transformed into reflections on adult life.
