David Bonneville (Porto, 1978) began his career in cinema as Manoel de Oliveira's assistant. Since then, he has written, directed and produced several works presented at festivals such as Locarno, Tampere, Melbourne Queer and SXSW.He has a degree in Sound and Image from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a degree in Directing from the DFFB/Gulbenkian Foundation, and completed a Masters in Screenwriting at the University of Westminster. He made his feature film debut in 2020 with The Last Bath. The film, winner of the Sophia Award for Best Film and Best Screenplay, presents a delicate essay on religion, intimacy and love through the story of a nun compelled to adopt a 15-year-old nephew. In addition to these awards, The Last Bath also won the Golden Globe and the SPA Award for Best Actress, as well as the GDA Award for Best New Talent.
