For film lovers aged 8 to 110, Batalha's new course includes six chapters that cover the history of the seventh art, from the first attempts to represent movement to the present day. Each chapter, with independent enrolment and attendance, includes theoretical and practical sessions, film screenings and even guided tours of very curious places. This course is coordinated by Miguel Ramos.
Chapter III - From formats to the way of projecting
When we think of a projectionist, we can compare them to a referee in sports: when everything goes smoothly we don't remember they exist, we never talk about them. The projectionist is perhaps the most invisible and fundamental figure in the act of watching cinema. We depend on their sensitivity and care in the preparation of a screening, so that a film comes to us whole and clean. In this chapter, we'll learn about the history of projection, the different machines and formats, and we'll even get to be projectionists for a day at Batalha.
Aimed at: children aged 8 and over, parents, grandparents and friends
