Since 2011, Amplifest has been a point of pilgrimage for Portuguese and international music lovers alike. Organised by the promoter Amplificasom as an “experience to be lived from the first second to the last”, the festival returns to music as a starting point for exchange and dialogue around this artistic medium and its associated forms, including talks and documentaries alongside the customary concerts.
For the festival’s ninth edition, Batalha screens Even Hell has its Heroes, by Clyde Peterson, which focusses on the career of Earth, the pioneering drone metal band who caused some of the most notable tectonic shifts in the musical landscape, as well as contributing to the popularisation of grunge.
