In 2005, the artists Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno directed a film in real time during a game between Real Madrid and Villarreal CF. Using 17 synchronised cameras spread around the Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, they focussed all lenses solely on the body of Zidane. Radically different from the television broadcasts, the film captures the concentration in his eyes and the precision of his shots. Zidane’s breathing, the noise from the field, the chants of the fans — all of these, combined with original music by the band Mogwai, create an intense sensory experience. This screening takes place on the eve of the European Football Championships.
