At the beginning of the 20th century, in an all-boys Austrian boarding school, young student Törless is a silent witness to the abuse that his classmates regularly inflict on a defenceless boy — acts that they justify under the pretext of discipline. Unable to intervene, Törless wavers between curiosity, a desire to belong and growing discomfort at the cruelty that surrounds him. As the line between power and submission blurs, the young man is confronted with the moral dilemmas of adolescence and the disturbing discovery of his own nature. Distinguished with the FIPRESCI Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Young Törless reflects on the mechanisms of violence and the rise of fascist ideologies.
