Following her talk at Batalha, Trinh T. Minh-ha presents her most recent work, in which she recovers material she shot in the early 1990s in the South and East of China. Using this footage and an impressive editing style, the filmmaker shows us the rural landscape of China, over which she superimposes diverse voices sharing personal experiences, poems and songs — leading us to reflect on the rapid, radical transformation the country has gone through. Essay-like in form, the film is as tender as it is stimulating, reflecting on the complex history of China, and of cinema.
