Winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival, Tsai Ming-Liang’s second feature centres once again on the urban jungle of Taipei, where true human connections are scarce. Through a series of comic incidents, we follow the lives of three characters: an urn salesman, an estate agent and a women’s clothes seller. Unknowingly, the three seek refuge under the same roof — that of an empty luxury apartment. The film is an ode to human intimacy (or the lack thereof).
