Trinh T. Minh-ha is a Vietnamese filmmaker, writer and composer who has gained recognition in a range of artistic and academic disciplines. She has made eight films, published more than a dozen books — as an artist, essayist and poet — and has created multimedia installations. As a teacher, she has worked at the universities of Harvard (USA), San Francisco State (USA) and Ochanomizu (Japan), among others. Currently, she teaches on the Gender and Women’s Studies and Rhetoric programmes at the University of California, Berkeley (USA).
Her film work, which crosses the boundaries between documentary, ethnographic, experimental and narrative cinema, has been the subject of innumerable retrospectives. She has given talks on cinema, art, feminism, the politics of culture and post-colonialism in various countries across Europe, Asia, America and Oceania. At Batalha she'll present the lecture "The Twofold Commitment".
Moderated by Amarante Abramovici — in English. Free entrance upon ticket pickup on the same day, starting from 1pm. Limited to two tickets per person.
