In this acclaimed war drama, Cillian Murphy and Pádraic Delaney play two brothers who join the Irish Republican Army in 1920 after witnessing the death of a friend at the hands of the Black and Tans, the British fighting force tasked with suppressing the revolution in Ireland. As the conflict becomes increasingly violent, the brothers become ideologically divided. Despite generating controversy at the time of its release, it was acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, becoming Ken Loach’s biggest commercial success and winning the Palme d’Or at Cannes.
