The Skin I Live In stars Antonio Banderas as Dr Robert Ledgard, a brilliant and troubled plastic surgeon who develops a revolutionary artificial skin that is immune to any external aggression. However, behind his research lies a dark secret and an unwitting victim: Vera (Elena Anaya), a mysterious woman held captive in his mansion. The film received several awards and nominations, including the BAFTA for Best Foreign Language Film and the Goya Award for Best Actress (Elena Anaya). It was also nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Award of the Youth. Considered Almodóvar's darkest film, The Skin I Live In fuses psychological drama and body horror to question the boundaries of identity, autonomy and power.
