With remarkable camerawork and beautiful black and white photography, Judit Elek's debut film follows a lonely elderly woman. Connected to the world through her objects and memories, the protagonist finds herself in bizarre and sometimes surreal encounters, and situations. This archive treasure takes a look, from a female perspective, at themes such as the passage of time, ageing and the isolation of Hungarian society at the time. The version we present was restored from a 35mm print by The National Film Institute Hungary-Film Archive and Film Lab and screened in Cannes and at MoMA.
