Seven days remain before the 21st century begins. In Taiwan, the rain is constant and a mysterious disease reaches pandemic proportions. Defying orders to evacuate, a man and a woman stay put in their apartments in the same building. In order to spy on his attractive downstairs neighbour, the man makes a hole in the floor of his apartment — and the two end up expressing their ardent desires through song and dance. This musical tragicomedy about urban solitude won the Critics’ Prize (FIPRESCI) at Cannes Festival.
