Mats Ersson and Marit are engaged to be married in the spring, but their plans are disrupted when the young woman is accused of witchcraft and burnt alive. In an attempt to understand divine justice, Mats decides to go to heaven to confront God. During this journey, in which he ends up questioning his integrity, the peasant meets the prophets, King Solomon and God. The Heavenly Play was, in the 1940’s, presented by Clube Português de Cinematografia at Cinema Júlio Deniz.
