Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King — and one of the most acclaimed adaptations of the author’s work — this film follows Johnny Smith (Christopher Walken), a teacher who wakes up from a five-year coma and realises he can tell the future by touching people. Folding the narrative into a series of vignettes, Cronenberg foregoes the repulsive oddities that are customary to him, instead building a fundamentally psychological sense of horror.
