A classic of film noir, celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, Sunset Boulevard follows Joe Gillis (William Holden), a failed screenwriter who, by accident, enters the decadent world of Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson), a former star of silent film. Living in isolation in her opulent mansion, Norma is obsessed by a triumphal return to the big screen, oblivious to the fact that time has forgotten her. As the boundary between dream and reality comes undone, the film reveals the price of fame and the fragility of the ego in an unforgiving industry. This special screening is presented by Cineclube Sérgio Lopes, a cinephile group created 12 years ago that brings together, among others, several figures originally linked to Porto's Faculty of Economics. Sunset Boulevard was part of this film club's first screening.
Screening presented by Alberto Castro, Palmira Macedo, Jorge Velhote and Fernando Teixeira dos Santos (Cineclube Sérgio Lopes) — with Portuguese Sign Language
