A single father (Lee Kang-Sheng) and his two children wander through the outskirts of Taipei, between the forest and the city streets. During the day, the father earns money holding up a sign advertising luxury condos, while his children visit shopping centres in search of free food samples. Every night, the family shelters in an abandoned building. Rounding out Tsai Ming-Liang’s fierce critique of the capitalist world, Stray Dogs marks the apogee of his “slow cinema”, and won the Grand Jury Prize at Venice Film Festival.
