A journey to escape the mafia is the starting point for Billy Wilder's famous comedy that immortalised Marilyn Monroe's ‘I Wanna Be Loved by You’. After witnessing a crime and fearing becoming the next victims, Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) disguise themselves as women and join a girl band on tour. Between wigs and dresses, they do everything they can to keep up appearances and escape persecution. When it was released, the film caused controversy in the United States for tackling subjects such as transvestism and homosexuality, considered taboo by conservative society in the 1950s.
