Porto Summer School on Art & Cinema — organized by Escola das Artes and Centro de Investigação em Ciência e Tecnologia das Artes da Universidade Católica Portuguesa — intends to be an advanced course of new film practices, combining critical thought with contact with creators in contemporary art and film. The 2023 edition is dedicated to the theme "Party Studies" as a concept for change and for embracing otherness, in a world wher conservative agendas threaten the necessary transformation of civic and democratic societies. Beyond the daily workshops, Summer School features a public programme, comprised of film screenings and exhibitions. Batalha hosts one of these screenings, featuring the appearance of the visual artist and filmmaker Jazmín López.
