Directed by the Dardenne brothers (Jean Pierre and Luc), the film follows 18-year-old Rosetta, who is fired from the factory where she worked after her probationary period. The reaction is violent, and the police are called in. Rosetta has a reason to react this way: she lives in a caravan with her alcoholic mother, carries the weight of betrayals and deaths, and will now have to look for a new job. Winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes, it is said to have been the quickest choice for any award.
