Throughout his life and artistic career, Ângelo de Sousa (1938–2011) made use of smaller gauge film (8mm and Super 8mm) as a medium. From this archive of moving images, Batalha Centro de Cinema presents four films shot in Porto — two of them never before seen — now in digital format. These four works document various episodes from the city’s history following the 25 April revolution (a protest, the shipwreck of an oil tanker near Castelo do Queijo, the bombing at Cooperative Árvore) and also a daily scene outside Casa do Artista. For each, a musical work has been commissioned to accompany the screening.
