The day referred to in the title took place in 1961, when the hunter and community leader Noah Piugattuk met a Canadian government agent, who had arrived with the mission of mobilising the Inuit community to move to a modernised camp, further south of their traditional homeland. Throughout the day, culture shock emerges in different ways, somewhere between the tragic and the comic, with the theme of cultural assimilation hovering over the dialogue. This film was presented at the Venice Biennale by the Canadian Pavilion.
