Portugal, 1968. Tomás Palma Bravo is the heir to a decomposing world, the haunted Gafeira. One day, his wife Maria das Mercês and his servant Domingos are found dead, and the patriarch disappears with his two pet dogs. Adapted from the novel of the same name by José Cardoso Pires, O Delfim is an assertive indictment of a cynical, violent and decadent country, trapped in the past by a conservative, patriarchal mentality and unable to free itself from its own ghosts.
