Co-directed by Luísa Homem and Tiago Hespanha, this documentary portrays the botanical exploration of the island of São Tomé and Príncipe by the naturalist Adolpho Frederico Möller in 1885, examining the functioning of that tropical ecosystem and the relationship between human beings and the environment. It was part of the four-episode documentary series No Trilho dos Naturalistas, directed by five Portuguese filmmakers, whose starting point was the history of botanical expeditions to Africa conducted by naturalists at the University of Coimbra since the 18th century.
Screening presented by Luísa Homem and Tiago Hespanha.
