An almost fairytale/comedy about an attractive, intelligent woman approaching middle age, eager to get married. With absurdly exaggerated interpretations of some of her personal experiences, the film alternates between the real and the surreal for a sarcastic deconstruction of male behaviour — while she cooks compulsively, he eats relentlessly. A treasure from the golden years of Czechoslovak filmmaking, signed by Ester Krumbachová, a benchmark of the Czech Nouvelle Vague. The version presented is the result of a restoration carried out by the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, in collaboration with the Národní filmový archiv and Státní Fond Kinematografie, in the UPP laboratories and Soundsquare Studios, from the original negatives.
