Winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes, and with Monica Bellucci in the cast, The Wonders centres on a family of beekeepers living in isolation in Tuscany, Italy. Their family dynamic is disrupted by the arrival of a reality TV crew, who want to record the wonders of rural life and present a prize to the most traditional family. Simultaneously, a teenage boy from a social reintegration programme is employed by the father as a farmhand. Both new events fascinate the oldest daughter, Gelsomina (Maria Alexandra Lungu), who is struggling to find her place in the world.
