Subdivided into 11 parts, Le italiane e l’amore ponders the condition of women in Italy, yet it was made by a group in which Mazzetti was the only woman. All of the episodes are inspired by real-life cases, as told in letters sent to magazines that were collected into a book and subsequently selected by Cesare Zavattini. The segment directed by Mazzetti, I bambini, concerns children’s curiosity regarding the questions of reproduction and birth, in a moving portrait of children’s imagination and spontaneity, so different to the taboos of adulthood.
