Filmed in the area surrounding Praça do Hipódromo, in Recife (Brazil) with a cast of 100 people, the film Out Loud is divided into eight acts, focusing on people who live on the streets. Following the precepts of Theatre of the Oppressed — a theatrical technique developed by Augusto Boal — we witness an exploration of the personal worlds of each character, weaving a living textile of contemporary Brazil.
Out Loud is presented at Batalha in a film-concert format, with live music performed by Homero Basílio, Antônio Barreto, and Emerson Rodrigues. This moment also marks the start of a residency for Jonathas de Andrade, involving research and dialogue with those who, in various ways, inhabit the area surrounding Batalha. This artistic residency will culminate in a new film work, to be shown in late 2023.
