Jazz on a Summer’s Day is a vibrant trip in time and space, to Rhode Island to see the Newport Jazz Festival in 1958, on a lazy summer weekend, shot in vivid colors and giving us a solid and amazing collection of performances, directly from the soul of Black America. On stage we stay along the film closer to a bunch of royalties from the counterculture, like Mahalia Jackson, Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Anita O’Day, Thelonious Monk, with some other timeless great musicians. A delight for the eyes and ears.
