This documentary brings together testimonies from young people in Soviet Latvia before the fall of the Berlin Wall, capturing the visceral emotion of a rock concert that triggers an act of revolt against the authorities. The people interviewed include a young mother, a soldier returning from Afghanistan, a troupe of protesting punks and an exemplary student. The film not only immortalised this period of conquering freedom — through stories of a restrained youth, seen differently by society and the local government — but also pushed for its transformation. The version we're presenting is the result of a restoration by the Latvian State Archive of Audiovisual Documents, presented at the Marché International du Film Classique.
