Starring Veronica Lake and Fredrich March, this screwball comedy tells the story of Jennifer, a witch burned in Salem by the puritan Jonathan Wooley. Before she dies, the young woman puts a curse on the executioner: all the men in her family are destined to be unhappy in marriage. Centuries later, Jennifer’s spirit reawakens to haunt the engagement of one of Wooley's descendants. Film shown together with Le jour se lève (1939), in the first screening that the Cineclube presented at Batalha, in 1947.
