In her first leading role in an Almodóvar film, Marisa Paredes plays Becky del Páramo, an egocentric singer who, 15 years earlier, abandoned her daughter Rebeca (Victoria Abril) in order to pursue her career. Returning to Spain for a concert, Becky is surprised to discover her daughter is now a famous TV presenter and married to an ex-lover of hers. As they begin to reconcile, Rebeca’s husband is murdered.
