The third feature film by the acclaimed Iranian director Amir Naderi follows the story of a young boy who receives a harmonica as a present from abroad. He becomes the centre of attention of his group of friends, who all compete for the privilege of holding or even playing it. Shot in the Persian Gulf, where the director grew up, this is a beautiful, comic and occasionally harsh depiction of childhood, speaking to power dynamics, peer pressure and the importance of knowing how to say “no”. The film was restored in 2023 by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults – KANOON (Iran).
