It is the end of summer in the early 1980s on a beach in the South of the country. With her husband away in Lisbon, Helena tries to feel more alive through an extra-marital adventure with a young man. Rui, her teenage son, passes his time shut in a dark bedroom, accompanied by a pet rat and a radio that transports him to other dimensions. When he meets Joana, he begins to let go of what he knows, discovering new emotions. Pedro Caldas’s debut feature-length fiction film, yet to have a commercial release, addresses the contradictory transitions its characters are going through, and the imminent loneliness they experience.
