Caught between the rumble of trains and explosions from a new motorway under construction, Glória is getting used to life in a village in the interior of Portugal. The pace of life is slow, as can be expected from a place that resists modern times and is slowly being deserted by its inhabitants. Ivan arrives in this setting, a boy exploring the world and making the acquaintance of Glória, a girl whose life has been marked by violence and insurmountable traumas. Around them, we meet people who have yet to escape, who fight against their fate or who are trying to reconstruct the past. Filmed towards the end of the 1990s, Gloria is a dark film trying to save itself from the midst of the despair of men.
Film followed by talk with Manuela Viegas, Daniel Ribas and Paulo Cunha — with Portuguese Sign Language.
