T.J. Demos' most recent book continues his exploration of ideas that go beyond an apocalyptic vision of climate and social justice. In Radical Futurisms, the American scholar and cultural critic explores Indigenous and Afrofuturist models that privilege environmental care and social reform through radical praxis.
The author will visit Batalha for a talk about these themes in the context of a resurgence of models of fascism and neoliberalism, exploring the potential for alliances across identity and aesthetic boundaries.
Talk part of the themed programme Politics of Sci-Fi, and moderated by the curator Mariana Pestana. Free entrance upon ticket pickup on the same day. Limited to two tickets per person.
