Kirikou is a clever and courageous boy born in a village that has been cursed by Karaba, a sorceress who has dried up the village’s only source of water and who eats anyone who tries to confront her. But Kirikou believes he can defeat her and, along with his uncle, he sets off on a spectacular adventure to break the curse. The strength of the young child as he takes on the powerful sorceress is a moving metaphor for the struggle and resistance of occupied peoples and countries, a theme that also runs through the filmography of Claire Denis.
In this screening we will show the fiction short feature directed by participants in the Directing Workshop, coordinated by Amarante Abramovici and with Lucas Tavares and Ana Santos.
