Seen as something of an anomaly in his oeuvre, Fast Company is a significant diversion from the gory horror that made Cronenberg a household name. The story follows Lonnie “Lucky Man” Johnson, a drag race driver whose sponsor replaces him with his rival. Ready to go to any length to take part in the big race, he decides to steal back his car. Inspired by his personal love for automobiles, this was the first film Cronenberg made without having written the script himself.
