In anticipation of the 20th LGBTI+ Porto Pride March on 29 June, Batalha invited the March's Organising Committee to programme a special screening. The protest, which has been demanding equality since 2006, came about in the year of the death of Gisberta Salce Júnior, a Brazilian trans woman murdered in Porto. One of the films chosen, Sérgio Galvão Roxo's animation, reveals Gisberta's life in an experience that is also intended to be a tool for education, social intervention and activism against transphobia. A candidate for Oscar nominations in 2024, An Avocado Pit portrays the encounter between Larissa, a trans woman, and Cláudio, a cis man, in a luminous and empowering story.
Screening programmed and presented by COMOP. Free entrance upon ticket pickup on the same day. Limited to two tickets per person.
