With the aim of rescuing and giving a platform to women filmmakers in Portugal, the Elas Fazem Filmes (They Make Films) programme, an initiative of MUTIM, promotes the screening of works by female directors in various cities across the country. Batalha hosts the last screening of the programme with two films that explore motherhood and the transformations it triggers in the lives of women, men and couples. In Rio Vermelho, Raquel Freire tells the story of a young pregnant woman who throws herself into the waters of the Douro, giving birth to a baby girl before being rescued by another mysterious pregnant woman. Tempo Comum, by Susana Nobre, premiered in Rotterdam, takes us to a flat in Lisbon, where newly-mum Marta balances the challenges of the first days of motherhood with recovering from childbirth.
Screening programmed and presented by MUTIM. Free entrance upon ticket pickup on the same day. Limited to two tickets per person.
