Joaquim Leitão's feature debut takes us to a corrupt Lisbon at night, seen through the eyes of a young man. Vicky de Almeida plays the role of a woman who adapts her image to the desires of the men who seek her out and pay her. One of these clients, a Brazilian pilot, is involved in a dangerous trafficking scheme. At the same time, her neighbour, Luís (played by Pedro Ayres Magalhães, from Heróis do Mar and Madredeus), starts spying on her, intrigued and increasingly obsessed, and ends up getting involved in the smuggling as well. A game with fuzzy rules that ends in a deadly spiral. With a strong auteur vision, Playboy is a rare example of success in Portuguese genre cinema.
