An inspiring and mesmerizing story of a cultural clash, begins on a hot summer day in a Brooklyn street. The local black and Italian community living side by side for so long, slowly changed from small discussions till the boiling point, in an escalade of violence towards the tragic final, with echoes of the political ideals of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. Do the Right Thing is a tour de force on how American society was not ready for a change. The film is a cinematic political portrait of what was the real America in the eighties, when the film premiered, working like a prophecy of what became America on the way to the Trump years. As good in 1989, as it is now.
