Awarded the Silver Bear Special Jury Prize at the Berlinale, Dear Emma, Sweet Böbe is a moving portrait of a country in transition, shot following the fall of the Kádár and Grosz regimes. The film takes a metaphorical look at the political changes in Hungary through the friendship of Emma and Böbe — two Russian teachers whose position in society is threatened after the language is removed from the curriculum and replaced by English, which both of them struggle with.
