After her lover dies from an overdose, Yolanda, a drug addicted nightclub singer, seeks refuge in a convent offering shelter to women involved in drugs, prostitution and murder. However, redemption does not seem likely, as the unusual group of nuns conceals various vices and sins — drugs, lesbianism, a tiger and erotic novels. This is a transgressive comedy that navigates between humour and the macabre, absurdity and social critique, with several of Almodóvar’s “chicas” on the cast — Carmen Maura, Marisa Paredes and Cecilia Roth.
