Filmed in secret, Critical Zone follows the events of a single night in the life of a lonely drug dealer, Amir, in the Tehran underworld. Guided by the voice of his GPS, Amir crosses the city offering a helping hand to a group of tormented souls, like a modern-day prophet. Drugs provide an escape from a futureless society, but eventually it encounters the seeds of resistance. The film, which was banned by censors in Iran, won the Golden Leopard award at Locarno.
