Halfway between a documentary and an essay film, André Gil Mata’s first feature film follows the routine of his grandmother, Alzira, in the house where she was born, lived and died. The film, which won an award at Cannes, is a portrait, narrated by the director, of the intimate space and family affections that he has always known. While recording his frail grandmother, he shares true or invented memories, and thoughts about life, death, family relationships and the difficulties associated to filming someone who is so close to him.
