In 1968, Gabriel, a young Nigerian man living in the USA, reflects on the frictions of the 1960s. He has travelled to California in search of a better life, but every day he is confronted with the paradoxes of a supposedly progressive society that ignores its own structural racism. Recently restored in 4k using the original negatives, the film was archived for decades following its release. It is considered a milestone in Black representation in American cinema, especially for capturing the emergence of contemporary counterculture on the West Coast.
