Featuring real-life testimony from actors who lived through the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990), Salhab mixes fiction and documentary in this film about the young people caught in this conflict, who were divided between their aims for the future and the war that was ravaging their country. We follow the story of Khalil, who, having faked his own death during the war, returns home under a new identity after 10 years abroad. Premiered in 1998 at the Cartagena Film Festival, Beyrouth Fantôme is screened here in a version restored under the supervision of the director. The restoration premiered in 2023 at FIDMarseille.
