Leonor Teles makes her fiction debut with BAAN — “house” in Thai — which, from Lisbon to Bangkok, unveils a romantic journey marked by meetings and missed connections. The film tells the story of a young woman doing a work placement at an architecture studio at the same time as she deals with the end of a failed relationship, and the start of a new one. In a play of reflections between the two cities, Leonor Teles pays homage to the Asian cinematic tradition — recalling filmmakers like Wong Kar Wai and Hou Hsiao Hsien — as she casts her gaze on the transition to adulthood and the concept of home.
